Description: Traveling west on I70, once in Terre Haute, take 41 south about 6 miles and then go east about ¾ of a mile. Turn right at the first road and go 1/5 mile to the park entrance. Check in at the entrance for diving. Wilderness Lake is the dive site at the park and is for diving and fishing only. The lake is nestled in the trees and is approximately 100 yards wide and a 1/5-mile long. The maximum depth is about 30 feet, but most of the sites to see are above the 15-foot thermoclines. Plant and fish life abounds here and many moss-covered trees exist under the water to give a greenish tint. A bridge built in 1845 spans part of the lake and a pioneer village is just north of the park with different activities through out the year. The park is equipped with a campground, playground, picnic area, and shelters.

Description: State road 54 will take you into Linton and you will find the park on the north side of the City Park. At the first set of cross roads north of the City Park go right and then back left to find the water. There are campgrounds available at the park and a small entrance fee is required. The pit itself is an old coal strip mine filled with cold clear water. The rim is tree lined and about 8 acres in size. In the southeast corner there is a big cruiser waiting to be explored and bass and bluegill abound for your enjoyment. You will need a wet suit for the cool waster and visibility can reach 30 feet or so away from the entry point. Depth here runs from 10 to 30 feet.
